MatteDesk

An interactive tool for cutting objects out of shots – alpha, matte, roto – right in the browser. Repair the plates once, generate mattes for multiple objects across the whole shot, and fix only the frames that need it.

01What it does

• Plate repair first – fix broken frames once, every stage reads the repaired plate.
• Mattes for many objects – click an object, MatteDesk tracks and mattes it through the whole shot.
• Hair and soft edges – dedicated edge stage with matting models, temporal smoothing and deflicker.
• Groups and seams – combine objects into one matte and close the gaps between them.
• Final Touch – manual bitmap fixes and a MergeMatte comp before export.
• Nuke & After Effects – exports EXR mattes and a ready Nuke script with the MergeMatte node.
